The Region of Central Greece has identified and highlighted the need for an integrated intervention strategy for correlating environment protection, natural and technological disaster risks mitigation, business infrastructure development, investment attraction, job creation and rural and urban social cohesion activities. For these reasons, Region must adopt practices and development activities for protecting its natural resources, while driving urban and rural entrepreneurship.
Effectiveness of all the proposals and measures of the PoliRURAL programme in order to make rural areas attractive.
A set of challenges have been identified, and will be updated according to a “monitoring – understanding – adjustment” cycle in a co-creation with the identified stakeholders. The methodologies developed in the PoliRural project relate to a cascade of global megatrends to relevant regional trends and to policy options in an explicit geo-referenced framework. The PoliRural tools developed will be tested and implemented in the Flanders’ region to face rural challenges related to:
Development of policy strategies regarding rural development.
New rural development program from the region
New service for young farmers
Expected impact (qualitative)
• Reduction of unemployment; • Renewal of age population; • Increase of rural population using digital technologies in agriculture.
